North Texas Irish Festival 2025

General Info

I missed this festival last year and regretted it, so this year I made a point to come to this one.

I took the Dart train which is one of the easiest ways to get to Fair Park. The Green line stops right at the front entrance. I could buy my tickets at the entrance on the day, but they have discounts if you buy ahead online and at Albertsons and Tom Thumb. Here is the Irish Festival’s website: https://www.ntif.org/

Parking and Dart train info here: https://www.ntif.org/tickets/

Upon entering you see this beautiful obelisk and horses! They seemed to have horse talks throughout the day.

Past the horses you can pick up coupons that act like money when buying food and drink. When buying from merchandise vendors you can use cash or card, but for the food and drink you have to use coupons.

Food and Drink

As far as food and drink there is so much to choose from, the Heritage Pies line was the longest and the food was what I was looking for. I was think Irish stew or a good shepard’s pie and I got the latter. It exceeded my expectations, buttery pastry at the bottom, and a nice swirl of mashed potatoes on top. It was only about 2.5 inches in diameter which was the just right size to be filling and enjoyable without too much. I wouldn’t mind trying the cottage pie, Scottish pie and their other offerings.

Of course they have the usual carnival food, big pretzels (which are better quality than ball park pretzels), funnel cakes, fried chicken, as well as some Portuguese, African and German offerings.

I had an extremely good time, plenty of things inside if the sun bothers you, and plenty of room to walk around even on a Saturday busy afternoon. At least 6 stages of different music and dancing going on, including some outside. Highly recommend. Slainte!
