Plants and the Five Love Languages

Did you know you can apply the 5 love languages to your plants at home?

I figured this out through experience, without really trying to apply the five love languages I noticed as I spent more time with my plants doing activities other than just watering them, they would grow better, faster and would survive longer. Before I started applying these methods I would lose more plants or they would wilt quicker.

At first, I was taking the advice of someone else and trying to use positive energy to help my plants with the re-potting process so they would survive longer (before this they often died shortly after the process). I found, like good feng shui, the positive energy uplifted the feeling of my home but also found it helps the plants grow faster and greener leaving you with a beautiful garden! There was a statistical difference in how many plants survived between when I applied these methods versus before when I just would water them.

Many of you have read the book The Five Love Languages by Dr. Gary Chapman. If you haven’t, its a very good book and describes the 5 possible ways you can send and receive love, usually written in the context of a person. Not everyone has the same primary way to send or receive love, they can differ and this is why you can have couples sending love to their partner but their partner doesn’t feel loved. For instance, one client’s way of sending love was working hard to provide for home and family, but their partner may want quality time, so at times there was resentment from the lack of personal time spent.

The 5 Love Languages

Now when I buy plants, I talk to them on our way home, even listen to them to get to know them better. Start by talking to them, ask their name or you can name them. Put little labels on them, put pride into selecting their little pots and encourage them when transferring them anywhere. Tell them they will be ok when moving between area or pots. Just as with your pets you think they don’t speak the language but they can get a lot from your tone of voice. Your voice is also determining the energy around you and your plants which puts everyone at ease.  Not to mention the spirits who maintain the plants and their energies can understand your meaning.  Sincerity is best.
