Get Back in the Flow: The River of Love

When clients are looking for love, I often receive that they want the next person to be the one and for the relationship to be long-term. But from a metaphysical perspective, guides told them that is not the best way to think of it. Instead, think of it as getting past the inertia and being intuitive enough to sort through the “river of love.”

Let the River Flow

When you’re ready to go out into the dating world again, imagine a river flowing in front of you, carrying different people and possibilities along with it. Some will be right for you; some won’t. Note that others may be attracted to your energy or personal growth, but they may not meet your needs. They may instead be an indication that your healing has worked and you are more attractive to others now.

Have your criteria ready: What do you need and hope for in a partner? Then look at your checklist when reviewing who approaches you. Toss those not meeting your “must-have” criteria back into the river.

If you’re so focused on finding the right person right away, you are not letting the river flow. Instead, when you meet people along the river, it is more important to ask: “Does this person meet my criteria for a healthy relationship?”

Attraction Isn’t Always Compatibility

Attraction and compatibility are not necessarily the same thing. Personal growth can change the energy you project, and people may be drawn to that light. But attraction doesn’t automatically make someone a good partner. Metaphysical awareness should work alongside observation, common sense, and good judgment. For more on this subject, feel free to read my book Soul Mates and Twin Flames on Amazon.

Don’t Plan the Wedding on Date One

One important thing guides mentioned was not to plan on marriage after the first few dates. This will help avoid the pattern of creating an “ideal relationship” mentally that keeps you stuck in a bad relationship later on. “But I imagined it perfectly; it just hasn’t turned out that way…yet…” Time-waster. Don’t do it. Intense chemistry can make us think someone is our next husband or wife on the first date, but chemistry is not history. Give yourself time to see how someone behaves under stress, disappointment, conflict, and ordinary circumstances.

Time is information. Over time, patterns become much harder to hide. Guides recommend waiting at least six months before trying to decide if someone is marriage material. This allows time to reveal the person’s true nature and gets you past the euphoria and “putting on our best interview face” stages.

Let Time Be Part of Your Discernment

Signs, synchronicities, soul connections, divine timing, and energetic attraction can be meaningful, but time deserves just as much respect. Time allows character to become visible, reveals whether consistency is real, and separates genuine compatibility from temporary chemistry.

Sometimes You Have to Put Someone Back in the River

The “river of love” may carry several opportunities your way. As you work on yourself, don’t be surprised if people find you attractive due to your light but are not a match for you. Acknowledge it, appreciate the work you’ve done and that it is attractive to others, and then put them back in the river. Get used to the idea that some folks may need to be tossed back.

Keep the Flow Moving

If you’re looking for love, release the pressure to make every encounter “the one.” Guides understand you don’t want another mistake, but they emphasize getting past that inertia and letting love flow as a river for a while. Use your intuition to sort through who is right for you. Be open. Be social. Allow yourself to be approached. Keep your standards, trust your intuition, and give people time to reveal their character.

Let the river flow. You can decide who stays when the time comes.
