A lot of my clients have clairsentience (empathy) and/or intuition (claircognizance). Many times, for those sensitive enough, empathy can seem overwhelming or annoying. Too much feeling without an explanation or being too distracted by emotion is not particularly useful or productive.
So I often suggest to affirm you have sympathy rather than empathy to clients who are overwhelmed with too much empathic emotion. Then they can be kind to a friend or others showing sympathy without feeling like they are going through their journey too.
Sympathy can still show you are kind and can see someone else’s perspective without hurting yourself emotionally and mentally, or even spiritually, in the process.
